GDRFA Dubai welcomes high-level Chinese delegation to explore Best Practices and Exchange Experience at Dubai International Airport

His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA Dubai), Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General, and Major General Talal Ahmed Al Shanqeeti, Assistant Director General for the Airports Sector, welcomed a high-level delegation from the National Immigration Administration of the People’s Republic of China, headed by H.E. Liu Zhiqiang, Director General of the Administration. The reception was attended by senior leaders and officials from the Airports Sector at Dubai International Airport – Terminal 3, as part of an official visit aimed at Reviewing the latest government practices and exchanging Experience in smart immigration and exploring the “Red Carpet” experience, which has cemented Dubai’s status as a global hub for travel innovation.

The visit began with a formal reception ceremony and the exchange of commemorative shields, followed by a tour of the Operations Room at the Smart Command and Control Center. GDRFA Dubai officials presented an overview of the latest operational systems and technological innovations, including intelligent monitoring and data analysis systems that have reduced waiting times by 40%, as well as advanced security procedures for identifying wanted individuals and combating human trafficking through specialized training programs for national staff.

The delegation was also introduced to the pre-clearance system for travelers, based on data analytics prior to arrival and fully aligned with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). They also learned about the new generation of smart gates and seamless corridors, which have reduced processing times to less than nine seconds—positioning Dubai International Airport as a leading global model of efficiency.

The visit included a field tour of Terminal 3 to experience the “ Red Carpet” in the Business Class Departures Hall. This is the world’s first smart corridor of its kind, allowing passengers to complete all passport control procedures within seconds without the need for physical documents, using advanced artificial intelligence capable of processing multiple travelers simultaneously. During the live demonstration, the Chinese delegation expressed their admiration for the technological and operational advancements at Dubai’s airports, affirming that Dubai’s model represents a global benchmark and voicing their ambition to align China’s systems with the UAE’s experience to enhance international travel security and safety.

H.E. Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri emphasized that the United Arab Emirates and the city of Dubai has become a global source of inspiration for pioneering government practices, with its airport travel ecosystem representing a comprehensive model of leveraging AI to serve people and strengthen traveler confidence in Dubai’s position as one of the world’s most secure and seamless gateways. He added that the “ Red Carpet” reflects Dubai’s vision to redefine the travel experience by combining innovation with a human touch, noting that exchanging expertise with international delegations reinforces GDRFA Dubai’s role as an active partner in shaping the future of global travel.
