The meeting discussed the organisation’s annual Ramadan campaign. The campaign aims to distribute water bottles during iftar in mosques and Ramadan iftar tents, as well as food baskets to families in need, in collaboration with 18 local charities. The Board also reviewed Suqia’s new initiative, launched during the Holy Month of Ramadan, which enables the community to donate water bottles to select mosques across Dubai.
The meeting highlighted the results of Suqia’s projects to provide clean drinking water to about one million people in Tanzania, in co-operation with Emirates Red Crescent. To date, more than 500,000 people have benefited from Suqia’s projects in Tanzania. Suqia further aims to complete the project and reach one million beneficiaries during the third quarter of 2025 through the implementation of 157 projects. The meeting also focused on the latest developments of the fourth cycle of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award. With total prizes of USD 1 million, the award – which is supervised by Suqia UAE – encourages the development of new and innovative technologies for the purification and desalination of water using renewable energy, including solar, wind, biomass, hydroelectric power, osmosis and geothermal energies.
