GDRFA Dubai launches “Click & Travel”

- GDRFA Dubai launches “Click & Travel” — a Mobile service that brings travel procedures to passengers

The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA Dubai) has launched “Click & Travel,” the world’s first mobile service to complete entry and departure procedures at Dubai airports during peak times and emergencies. The service supports Dubai’s ongoing efforts to enhance the travel experience across its air ports of entry, enabling passport control officers to reach passengers and complete entry and departure procedures at their location quickly, flexibly and securely, without being tied to fixed service points.
The service represents a shift in the way services are delivered at ports of entry, bringing the service to passengers rather than requiring them to go to it. This enhances passenger flow, operational efficiency and the overall travel experience. It operates through mobile devices integrated with GDRFA Dubai’s systems and databases and uses biometric verification technologies, enabling identity verification and transaction completion in approximately 12 to 15 seconds.

31,373 Transactions During Pilot Operations
A total of approximately 31,373 transactions have been completed through “Click & Travel” since pilot operations began in May and through 31 August 2026.

The Service Reaches the Passenger
The mobile nature of the service enables passport control officers to reach passengers inside the airport terminal, verify their information and identity, and complete entry or departure procedures at their location. This gives airport teams greater flexibility in managing passenger movement and allocating resources according to operational requirements.

The service also supports the readiness of airport teams to respond to operational situations requiring greater flexibility and speed. It can be deployed when needed and during periods of increased passenger traffic and operational pressure, helping enhance passenger flow and ensure a rapid response to operational requirements.

At departure, the service is available to all passengers, including UAE citizens, residents and visitors. Upon arrival, the first phase covers UAE citizens and residents, with the scope of the service to be gradually expanded in line with approved plans and operational requirements.

Mohammed Al Marri: Redesigning the Passenger Experience
His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, said that “Click & Travel” reflects GDRFA Dubai’s approach of moving beyond improving procedures towards redesigning the passenger experience.

He said: “We place people at the heart of the development process and harness advanced technologies to create an easier and more efficient travel experience. With ‘Click & Travel,’ instead of passengers having to look for the service, the service comes to them, enabling passport control officers to complete their procedures at their location quickly, securely and flexibly.”

His Excellency added: “The completion of more than 31,000 transactions reflects the service’s readiness and ability to operate efficiently within the airport environment and encourages us to continue developing and expanding it, further strengthening Dubai’s leadership and position in shaping the future of travel.”

Talal Al Shanqiti: Greater Flexibility in Managing Passenger Movement
Major General Talal Ahmed Al Shanqiti, Assistant Director General for Air Ports at GDRFA Dubai, said that the service enhances operational flexibility.

He said: “The importance of ‘Click & Travel’ lies in bringing the service to wherever the passenger is, enabling a faster response to operational movement, reducing waiting points and ensuring smoother passenger flows, while maintaining the highest levels of security and efficiency.”

Khalid Bin Mediya: Digital Integration at the Core of the Service
Colonel Expert Khalid Bin Mediya Al Falasi, Assistant Director General for Digital Services at GDRFA Dubai, explained that the service represents a model for integrating digital solutions with field operations.

He said: “The value in ‘Click & Travel’ is not limited to the mobile device itself, but lies in the digital integration ecosystem that enables passport control officers to access and verify passenger information and complete procedures at the passenger’s location efficiently and quickly, within a secure and fully integrated digital environment.”

He added: “The service has been designed to enable its continued development and the future expansion of the range of services that can be delivered through mobile devices, supporting GDRFA Dubai’s direction towards more flexible and proactive digital solutions.”

From a Mobile Procedure to a Broader Service Ecosystem
GDRFA Dubai continues to develop “Click & Travel” and explore expanding the range of services that can be completed through mobile devices in the future, extending beyond entry and departure procedures to other services and processes associated with the passenger journey, in accordance with approved operational and security requirements.

The launch of the service builds on GDRFA Dubai’s ongoing efforts to develop its smart ports ecosystem, enhance operational efficiency, and harness digital solutions and advanced technologies to provide more proactive, flexible and human-centred services, supporting Dubai’s competitiveness and global standing for the quality and ease of the travel experience.
